Corinne Rios
Hi my name is Corinne Rios. I first became introduced to ISR when my husband and I relocated to Florida with our then six month old daughter Frankie. We bought a house with a pool located on a lake and found ourselves spending many weekends at the beach. It only took a few days for my husband and I to witness the curiosity that a child that young already has with the water. Prior to my daughters arrival my husband and I spent countless hours researching and baby proofing everything from car seats to stove locks to ensure that our daughter would be safe. I knew that I had to take the same care when it came to protecting her near the water. As parents we want to give our children every possible opportunity to survive or be protected if an accident occurs. No parent intends for an accident to take place. We all know it only takes one second to answer the phone, walk to another room or grab a snack from the fridge and find your child into something that you never would have expected them to touch. Yard workers, pool companies or a dad working around the yard can accidentally leave a pool gate open or a screen door not fully closed. This is all it takes for you child to make their way to a body of water. Florida is full of lakes and pools. Even if you don't have one in your own back yard I am sure your neighbor or a relatives do.
At 6 months we enrolled our daughter in ISR lessons with Ginger Blackman in Merritt Island. Within weeks she was able to roll on her back and float. Then again at 12 months she learned the swim float sequence with Ginger. During this time I would drive to Merritt Island from Viera and saw that there was a great need for an instructor in our area. I have been a first grade teacher for over 10 years and already had a love for children and their learning so I knew that becoming an ISR instructor was the perfect fit for me. I trained with Ginger Blackman and developed and even greater appreciation and respect for the ISR process. I was completely amazed at how much training is required of an ISR instructor. I was able to see the knowledge and quality of the program during my training. There is so much research and science that is behind the ISR method. The ISR training program was extremely challenging and thorough. ISR instructors are very well prepared to train and ensure that your child's safety is our number one priority.
I have always been active and have raced competitively for years. One of my proudest accomplishments are qualifying and running in the Boston Marathon, Chicago Marathon, Memphis Marathon and New Orleans Marathon. I have also run and completed in many half marathons, 5k and 10k races.
I am CPR and first aid certified.
I teach ISR from my heated, saltwater pool in Viera between the hours of 11:00 am -2:00 pm.
Lessons are Monday-Friday and scheduled in 15 minute intervals.
Please complete the Contact Form for more information. I am in the water most daylight
